Earthquake Ravaged Abruzzo, Italy
Last Fall I had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy where I studied European art and design. One of the biggest projects I worked on there was an international recreation trail signage system. As you can tell from the photos, earthquakes have left the area absolutely devastated and almost devoid of life. Walking the streets of Castlevecchio Calvisio, you won’t see a soul, just an occasional cat or two.
I was very fortunate to be a part of that project and I was excited to hear it had been selected to represent my school at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC this summer. It’s a great honor and I hope it brings to light the importance of design in the world today and its impact on the community - here and abroad.
